At the beginning of this Rotary year, we took a survey as a club to identify what the biggest needs in this community are and which organizations we are most passionate about. The theme that came out of that survey is that poverty is a primary concern of ours, and that the Christian Cupboard is one of our favorite organizations in Seguin. Well guess what? With the holiday season upon us, it is that time of year that the Christian Cupboard is in need of our support. The Cupboard's primary food source provider is the San Antonio Food Bank, which is on dangerously low inventory levels. The result? The Christian Cupboard is forced to buy its goods from HEB at full price. This is something we can absolutely help with. For the next three weeks, we will have a collection box at our Tuesday meetings. Please, clean out your pantries and ask your neighbors to do the same. Every 5 items you donate will count towards a make-up meeting.

From Jamie Long at the Christian Cupboard:

"Thanks for helping us out with this - it’s much needed right now.  Any canned items, dried pasta, rice and beans are great.  During the holidays it’s nice to have small bags of flour and sugar for baking as these aren’t things we normally stock and hand out.  Any other specific non-perishable items that are holiday meal staples are great too - like canned cream of chicken and mushroom soups, canned fruit, condiments, boxed potatoes, baking mixes, stuffing, vegetable oil, etc.  As long as it’s non-perishable, we can use it.  Again, thanks for your help in supporting our pantry, and most importantly, our community!"

Not able to make it to our Tuesday meetings? The Seguin Gazette will serve as an off-site collection site for donations.
