Guadalupe Valley Young Marines program

The Guadalupe Valley Young Marines was incorporated June 29, 2009 with the first graduating class May 28, 2010. We have been involved in various city events- Fiesta Seguin, 4th of July Parade, Veterans Park events, Memorial Day Events, we have volunteered with the VFW’s, DAV, American Legion for Flag Day, the Geronimo VFW for the POW/MIA event, the Renaissance History Society and other activities. We participate in fundraisers throughout the year, which have included car washes, sign sales, peanuts, meat sticks, and serving meals, etc. Honoring our Veterans is a big part of our unit. We spend time visiting and helping our Veterans, showing appreciation to the men and women who gave so much for our country and helping to insure our freedom. Young Marine’s train to live a healthy and physically fit life through different physical activities including a bi-yearly physical fitness test. But it is not all
training and learning. We also do many other fun things such as field trips to museums, local sporting events, camping trips, and visiting other places. Our Unit staff all have a back ground check done on them and are all volunteers. We want to see our youth contribute back to our community and grow as leaders in their schools and all endeavors they participate in.
As a unit we have traveled to Hawaii, Oklahoma, and Arizona, with future plans for our Division 4 Encampment to Colorado this summer. Many of our Young Marines individually have participated in events that have taken them to California, Florida, Oregon, Arizona, Maryland, Washington and Virginia. These Young Marines are our future leaders traveling and bringing back their hands on knowledge to their peers, doing it drug free and making a difference.
