Fifty years of experience in public education, 43 of those years in administrative positions, 24 as superintendent of schools. In-depth knowledge of legal, governance, financial, management, and instructional issues relative to Texas public education. Comprehensive perspective relative to school improvement. Dedicated to student readiness for college, career, and a life of purpose.

Currently serving as superintendent of Navarro ISD, a 4A district in Guadalupe County. The district consistently performs above state averages on accountability measures; receives a Superior rating on the state Financial Integrity System; and earned Platinum status for financial transparency from the Texas State Comptroller. The Board of Trustees was selected Regional Honor Board of Texas in 2016.

For nine years, until retirement in June 2005, served as superintendent of the Seguin Independent School District. Seguin ISD is a 5A district with a very diverse population, including a high percentage of Limited English Proficient and economically disadvantaged students. Worked with the Board, staff and community to raise expectations and achievement.

Regional Superintendent of the Year and one of five finalists for Texas Superintendent of the Year in 2004.

Came out of retirement in 2006 to do consulting work for the Texas Legislative Budget Board under contract with Texas Public School Consulting and to serve as an interim superintendent, first for Santa Gertrudis ISD and then for Navarro ISD.
